The Other Refuge was a group photography exhibition presented as part of Liverpool Arab Arts Festival 2026, in collaboration with Open Eye Gallery. Featuring Fuad Al-Gaadi, Nasma Aljizawi and Omer Al Tijani, the exhibition explored belonging through the perspectives of UK-based Arab artists whose lives have been shaped by displacement.

The artists’ visual and cultural narratives invited visitors to consider what “home” means: a place or territory, a connection carried through family and heritage, or an experience shaped by memory, movement and lived geographies. The exhibition celebrated culture and paid tribute to the communities behind the artists’ stories.

Fuad’s photographs in the exhibition explored identity, displacement and belonging, presenting visual stories of migration, resilience and cultural connection.
